An eventful week for Margaret River. Saturday 9.40pm the town was rocked by an earthquake and then Sunday night into Monday morning a cold front brought winds that uprooted trees throughout the area.

The earthquake measured 2.6 magnitude was at a depth of 10km and the resulting earth tremors were felt by many people with animals reacting to the event. Then less 24 hours later winds ripped through the area felling trees and closing both Bussell Highway and Caves Road. At the lower end of town Bussell Highway was blocked at the Shell Station with multiple fallen trees also bringing down overhead power cables. Clean up was swift with roads reopened quickly and as the winds moderated the sun returned.
